Welcome from the Chairs

We are pleased to welcome you all to the 11th International Membrane Science and Technology Conference in 2022 (IMSTEC 2022) organised by the Membrane Society of Australasia (MSA) and ARC Research Hub for Energy-Efficient Separation (ARC-EESep). The key themes for IMSTEC 2022 will cover three major focus areas in a post-COVID-19 world:

  • Circular design and engineering of membranes;

  • Crossing the gap with the new normal – separation to support societies’ recovery; and

  • Vision 2030: where next?

Within our key themes, the conference will cover all technical areas of membrane science, including inorganic membranes, polymeric membranes, membrane fabrication and modification, transport phenomena modelling, and membrane applications in a broad variety of areas such as filtration, distillation, desalination and biological separations. The conference will feature advances in membrane technology from the latest innovations in synthesis, characterisation, processing and modelling to the advanced applications in health, energy and sustainability as well as future materials and devices.

We look forward to continuing the IMSTEC tradition to provide local and overseas delegates a platform for keeping up to date with the latest research and industry developments, discuss new ideas, network with colleagues and enjoy social events. Our program includes 6 Plenary, 29 Keynote and 36 Invited Speakers presenting their most recent and innovative work. With over 200 presenters and attendees (in person and remote), IMSTEC therefore brings together state of the art research and industry progress to build a stimulating programme that pushes the frontiers in membrane science and application. Apart from catching up with old friends, We believe IMSTEC will be a great platform for our researchers to make new friends and build new collaboration.

On behalf of the organising committee, we would like to express our gratitude to our supporters, committees and presenters who make our conference a success. So we hope you enjoy IMSTEC 2022, and that you also take some time to explore Melbourne and its beautiful nearby places.
